The Wisconsin Bankers Association Flex 360 presentation was eye opening for many bankers! There were many key takeaway on how to get started with AI. It was fun to see the engagement, ideas, and questions. Here’s some quick takeaways…and a little extra credit AI insight at the end.
Privacy and AI: A Balanced Approach: Introducing AI requires the same level of trust and responsibility we expect from our employees when they handling sensitive data. Updating IT Usage policies and setting clear guidelines are akin to reinforcing a bank’s security system – essential for safety and compliance.
A hot tip: ChatGPT will let you download all your interactions. This option provides a potential audit tool to ensure employees are not uploading private data. Is it a good idea, sure. Is it a great idea, no. Realistically an employee will find ways around this…just like they can talk openly at the bar about a client, upload info to other sites, or forward sensitive info to their personal email.
Set your policy, but you’re probably not adding more risk with AI. If anything, you’re keeping people in the shadows which might be increasing your risk!
Starting Small with AI: Embarking on the AI journey can begin with a small team, similar to piloting a new financial product. This approach allows for manageable refinement and building use cases. Find your advocates you trust and let them get to work!
AI’s Impact on Campaign Development: We ran through a test case of how in 20+ minutes we could develop a draft of a campaign that some thought would literally take days or even weeks! The adoption of AI in marketing campaigns accelerates your productivity and creativity. But we also saw that we clearly need professionals inputting ideas, then editing for brand and bias.
Employee Development: Incorporating AI with tools like DiSC and StrengthsFinder creates a personalized development approach for employees. Using AI to “talk” about other employee’s personalities in a safe space and craft a plan to communicate better is a win for everyone involved.
These are easy learnings and easy ways to get started.
And if you’re curious, did I use AI to write this blog? Yes, kind of. I input key topics, ran through a few drafts, then pulled it out of AI to edit in Word. This is the perfect use case for AI. I used my experience to create some structure, let AI write, then I edited to make sure it fit my brand and desired goals. It saves a ton of time and let’s me iterate on ideas at the push of a button.

AI didn’t replace my work, it allowed me to work more productively and amplify my writing.
