Magic of Mechanical Keyboards

Today’s post is one part a pitch for an underrated tech gadget I love, and one part sales pitch so you buy one and I get a commission from Amazon. (Peak full transparency!) Mechanical keyboards are amazing and you won’t appreciate one until you use it. My memory as a child was using them in computer classes. The old school clickity clack. I missed them. And I wanted that. And now I own two mechanical keyboards and they’re amazing.

They literally feel different. And sound different, but you can choose if you want a loud version or a quiet version. The cheap version you have it work was probably $15 and feels like you’re pushing keys with bubbles, because you are. A decent mechanical keyboard will run you around $100. While that may seem like a lot, if you type all day everyday at work. That’s a small cost for complete joy when you type.

Why Mechanical Keyboards?

  • A Feeling Like No Other : The tactile feedback from a mechanical keyboard is incomparable. Each keystroke feels deliberate, satisfying, and, dare I say, joyful. The are…responsive.
  • Built to Last : These keyboards aren’t just about the feel; they’re about enduring quality. They’re built with the promise of longevity, standing by you through every word you write, every game you play, and every project you embark on. That’s the sales pitch from “Big Mechanical Keyboard”. Rarely have I every had a keyboard break, but since I love them I’ll believe them blindly.
  • Speed and Accuracy : Mechanical keyboards are renowned for their responsiveness. Whether you’re a writer, a gamer, or someone who types a lot for work, the efficiency you’ll gain is undeniable. What this really means is that you have a better sense of when you have, or have not pressed a key. It’s weird, you don’t appreciate this feeling until you move back to a cheap keyboard.

I remember the first time I switched from a regular keyboard to a mechanical one. Initially, it was just curiosity, but soon, it became a part of my daily life and I can’t go back. The click-clack rhythm of the keys didn’t just speed up my typing; it made it a more pleasurable and engaging activity.

My personal recommendation is the Velocifire Gaming Keyboard. I don’t game, so don’t let the name fool you. Mostly, it has features to light up that I think gamers like. For me, it’s the middle ground of clicking when you type…not to loud, not to quiet. By the way, I use the “brown switches”. If you really care, you can Google it. If you don’t, it’s a nice middle of the road noise level.

It’s also on the lower end of cost and requires a USB wireless plug in. I could have spent a lot more and not had the little USB dongle, but it wasn’t a big deal to me. Lastly, I use a white keyboard. I think it’s just more modern and makes it clear, I don’t mess around with cheap gray keyboards.

Here’s the link. Check it out, try it, and if you don’t like it just return it!

Enjoy!
