The Alkami guest blog focusing on “Launching Everyday Gen AI with a Pilot Team” generated many great questions. Julie Redfern and I had a big takeaway, readers needed a personal game plan to get started.

Use ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot to create a learning path for you. You can modify these prompts by focusing it on your industry, role, or job description. And remember, magic happens by “talking” to AI. Engage in its response to ask for more information, change the direction or tone, or elaborate even further. In each chat, your goal should be at least five back and forth chats to push AI to better outcomes for your needs. The prompts are a little different, tuned for each gen AI solution.

“I need you to create a detailed four week game plan to help me learn how to use gen AI. I’d like you to create a daily game plan starting on Monday, June 17th and running 4 weeks. I’m a beginner. I want you to give me 3 daily activities to try with ChatGPT to help me learn prompting and any additional skills you think I should learn so I have a great working knowledge of how to apply gen AI everyday into my professional life. As a bonus, on Saturday and Sundays I want you to apply personal ways I can use ai. Focus on cooking and baseball. Your activities should force me to interact with ChatGPT by entering prompts, helping me explore the basics to more advanced topics over this time period. Your guidance should help me learn not only prompts, but how to engage even deeper into chat conversations. Throughout the month your prompt training and prompt examples should grow more dynamic and layered. Make sure to be detailed with your lesson plans, I’m a beginner. Week 1 would be focused on exploring key prompts and how help users practice changing prompts for different results. Week 2 should focus on more advanced topics like using uploaded documents and referencing websites. Week 3 should focus on using AI as a tutor or consultant. The last week should focus on building GPTs.

Watching a video of AI in action is very helpful for learning. Watch this narrated video to see how each of these three AI solutions creates a first draft of the content. You’ll notice differences, and I’m sure you’ll have a preference, but all are a great start to jump start your learning!
If you prefer a table, ask AI to “Put this plan into a table.”
If you want more dynamic and elaborate prompts, ask AI to “Create more dynamic and elaborate prompts.”
If you want a different time frame, just ask AI. “Talk” to AI and collaboratively build your training plan.
